Bronkhorst is an experienced European supplier of mass flow controllers. The technology to control mass flow can also be used for pressure control. In 2016, PCS and Bronkhorst co-developed a high-pressure electronic pilot controller to set the reference pressure on an Equilibar dome-loaded back pressure regulator up to 200 bar. This resulted in a multi-channel PID controller and calibrated pressure sensor being fitted in a housing containing two proportional valves specially designed for high pressure.

In 2018, the 2.0 version of this extension of Bronkhorst’s El-Press series – a Dual Valve Pressure controller – was launched on the Achema conference in Germany. Since that launch, we have applied the regulators frequently. Both to pilot the Equilibar dome-loaded back pressure regulator as well as a stand-alone dead volume pressure controller.

The instrument communicates both analog ((0)4…20 mA or 0..5(10Vdc)) and digital (RS-232) and can be fitted with bus communication like EtherCAT, ProfiNet, Profibus, Modbus, DeviceNet, FlowBus, Canopen.
